The mudder of all tough…

Tough Mudder London South Sat

Yes folks, I am joining the club and taking part in the South West Tough Mudder with Pixie Trails. This event definitely comes in the ‘exercise disguised as fun’ category rather than a full blown endurance event, but I’m really looking forward to it. For those of you who don’t know much about the event, Tough Mudders are pretty hardcore 10 to 12 mile obstacle courses originally designed by the special forces to test your all around strength, stamina, determination, and camaraderie. You can check out some of the crazy obstacles here, but they include the Guantlet – where you get high-pressure hosed from both sides while climbing a steep, muddy incline, and Walk the Plank – a 15+ foot high jump into freezing water.

It’s a good way of mixing up my training – bit of running, upper body training and core.

Unlike my other events this year, this is a real team effort – some of the obstacles are designed to be completed in team.

Let the training commence!…

  1. If you enjoy this, you should try the http://www.majorseries.com . I have been training with British Military Fitness for many years but never had the guts to try it until this year, I have signed up for the october one.
In fact while you are “gym surfing” have you ever tried BMF? They do free trial sessions in a park near you… BMF is the reason I got addicted to fitness, before them, I was a real couch potato and never thought I could run for pleasure… and I’m sure I don’t have to sell you the benefits of training outdoors. If you’ve never tried, you should give it a go but with your level of fitness, you should go with the red group, you would find the blue to easy/boring. Good luck with the training for TM.
