Sami and I had our last long run before the marathon yesterday. I’d love to say I found it easy, but that would be a big fat fib! I think the pressure has been building for both of us over the last few weeks. I was ill a few weeks ago and then injured, and poor Sami was ill last week so we felt a sense of urgency to get that long run under our belts. I love running – it’s great on your own terms, but can be quite stressful if you feel that you HAVE to do it. Anyway, we are both still walking with no major injuries (the odd niggle), which is half the battle when you are training. I’m sure we’ll ace it (positive thinking and all that).
I did have a bit of a breakthrough with my feet. I’ve been having excruciating pain in my feet after about 3 or 4 miles so I thought I’d try my old trainers with the inserts to minimise the overpronation and it worked like a charm. Thank god for that because the pain was almost unbearable. I just need Nike to invent a running shoe with the comfort of the Lunarfly 2s and the support of my new Flywires.
Anyway, 17 down only another 9 to go! I plan on squeezing in a few 5 mile runs (work permitting) over the next couple of weeks and a 10 miler on Saturday with Sami and then it’s the marathon! 🙂
Tomorrow I will do a post with my tips on how to get out there running in the first place.
